THINK MUSIC. THINK ALBION. SWINGIN' AT THE SHELL.
Michigan’s friendliest small college town, Albion, home of Albion College, is also the home of a wonderful band shell erected in 1941. Renovated last summer with generous support from local businessman Bill Dobbins, the band shell is the jewel in the heart of Albion’s largest park, Victory Park, which lies along the banks of the Kalamazoo River.
The scene of community band concerts during the summer months for many years, the renovation of the band shell and its location has made it the venue of choice for a wide variety of entertainers.
Swingin' at the Shell is made possible through the generous sponsorship of Caster Concepts with the support of the Albion Community Foundation, Alro Steel, Comerica, the Greater Albion Chamber of Commerce, Haas Trucking, Albion Electric and Parks Drug Store.
The concerts are free and open to the public. Concessions including sandwiches, soft drinks and snacks will be available at most concerts. Music lovers are invited to bring their lawn chairs and enjoy great music in a perfect setting. In case of inclement weather, the concerts will be held either at the Victory Park pavilion or at Goodrich Chapel on the Albion College campus.
